Is the Tree on My Property About to Fall Down?

Leaning TreeWe all expect trees to be strong all the time. We’ve seen them withstand storms, hurricanes, really strong winds, intense sunlight and terrible pollution but still, they lived through it all. However, trees don’t live forever and sometimes they need your attention too. It is important to inspect trees every once in a while to know whether they’re still healthy or if trimming or pruning might already be necessary.

Does a tree on your property look as if it’s about to fall down? Here are some signs to watch out for:

  • Rotten roots – It is quite challenging to know whether roots are starting to rot especially if you don’t have an expert eye. One sign would be fungi or mushrooms growing around the tree’s base.
  • Leaning trunk – Some trees look like they’re leaning from the very start, which is normal. However, if you see about a 15 to 20-degree tilt that you never noticed before especially if a storm just passed, then you have to call for a professional to help you out.
  • Dead branches – If branches are starting to appear dead and are falling down every once in a while, this could be a sign that the tree might be weak and hazardous.
  • Cracks and holes in the trunk – A hole in the trunk could mean growing decay inside of the tree.

Now, these signs are not usually seen by people who have no deep knowledge about trees. If you suspect that the tree on your property is about to fall down or even if you have a little bit of doubt in your mind, call for your local tree contractor right away. Ignoring these things can lead to injury and expensive damage to property. Don’t wait ‘til it’s too late!
